CYCLE RIGHTS ATTORNEYS
Cycle Advocates legal counsel share a passion for Cycling and the Rights of Cyclists.
Cycle Advocate alliance attorneys represent individuals and provide advocacy in the courts and legislatures, in community programs and education. Our alliance attorneys represent and protect the Rights of Cyclists in:
CYCLING IS FREEDOM
Freedom: The power or right to act, speak, think, or move as one wants without hindrance or restraint. Cycling, at its core, is the Freedom of Movement and across your neighborhood, community, State, and Country. Cycling is the exercise of Freedom and the Freedom of exercise that provides a unique personal experience which improves and expands physical and mental health. Beyond motion, Cycling is the Freedom of association and direct participation in the world.
Cycling should be as “Easy as Riding a Bike,” but Cycling Freedoms are compromised by confusion and mixed perceptions over the place of cycling in communities and wavering political will to respect and protect the rights of cyclists as individuals operating vehicles. Years of Planning and Design around automobile transportation have created tension that places cyclists at risk of harm and limits access to shared use of roads. This negative tension has created segregation on the roads and in the minds of many non-cyclists. Ultimately, many still see cyclists as a second class that are not entitled to the same rights, freedoms, and protections at motorists.
CIVIL RIGHTS PRACTICES
Cycle Advocates have adapted the Power of Non-Violence practices developed over a century of civil rights campaigns that successfully changed the people, communities and governments. This adaptation of Non-Violence works to Integrate Cycling as an essential and valued element of the Community.
Cycle Advocates Programs and Practices include: Give 5, SSEA Safe Riding, Legal Advocacy, and Community Programs to create a “Cycle of Advocacy.” Each of these Practices and Programs rely upon taking the higher ground seeking inclusion of cyclists to build a better society through creative non-violence campaigns. The combined Program actions span the spectrum of grass-roots engagement to legal practices that raise awareness, protect cyclists, educate the entire community, and shift the laws that reflect, embrace and nurture cycling values.
